The Corpie Fund
The Corpie Fund is not, as you might be thinking, simply a glorified booze fund for alumni donations. Hard to believe, but it's true (although if you'd like to chip in for our next party, we aren't going to stop you). For the first time, the Corp is asking for your financial support to advance Corp initiatives in scholarships, career development, and employee recognition-- three areas which can be greatly enhanced by your support.
Scholarships: On the Corp Upper Management retreat in May 2007, the UM approved additional scholarships, totaling $3000, for qualified Georgetown students. However, as with most of the Corp's scholarships, the majority of the $3000 will be going to non-Corpies. Supporting scholarships specifically designated for Corpies will both supplement this advancement of the Corp's philanthropy and show appreciation for the current class of deserving Corpies that is carrying on a great tradition.
Career Development: Corporate information sessions. Resume writing. Mock interviews. Networking events. The Corp already provides many of these resources to its senior employees, but your support can further expand these programs, helping Corpies transition from life at Georgetown to life in the big, bad, "Real World."
Employee Recognition: A-ha, you say! This is a clever euphemism for parties! Well, yes and no. Yes, the Corp has traditionally thanked its employees through a semesterly party at the Holiday Inn-- but at a cost of $7,000 a pop, it's no easy task. But even more than the dance floor and the open bar is the growing commitment in the Corp to recognizing Corpies who go above and beyond their job description and their pay scales to serve Georgetown students. Employee Recognition donations may help defray the cost of the Holiday Inn, yes-- but more importantly, they'll help reward the unsung heroes of the Corp, serving as an alumni complement to the Corp's own Employee Incentive Budget.
